Volvo Key Fob Troubleshooting
Volvo drivers love the remote control features of their key fob. By using a smartphone application, they can lock and unlock the vehicle and start the engine and even locate the vehicle.
Place the key fob's face up on an uncluttered surface. Find the button that opens it, then wedge an object between the cover and the fob and pull it up slowly.
Locking the Door
Volvo's remote key fobs will unlock the doors, tailgate, and flap for filling up the fuel in your vehicle with a press of a button. They also can turn on the ignition, turn off the alarm, and even operate your sunroof if equipped. With these features you won't have to search for your keys or even lock yourself out of your car again.

Keep your key fob in place with the Volvo logo facing upwards, and unlock or lock the manual lock. Find the black button which is on the outside of the key fob's body and gently press it to open a cover that houses a manual key blade. The cover can be turned clockwise using a flathead, or coin.

With a fingernail, remove the cover on the back of the key fob. The button should be underneath the cover on an angle that is near the body's edge. Slide it to the right. The cover will come out and slide off leaving the manual key blade in! If you're not able to locate the button, check the now-uncovered manual key access for a hidden lever or slot.
Close the Windows
Volvo key fobs feature an option that hides behind them that allows you to instantly open all the windows. This is useful in situations where you need to squeeze into tight parking spaces or simply need fresh air while driving.
To do this you need to press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower the windows as well as the sunroof, should you have one. When you're finished with the vehicle, you can close all the windows by pressing the lock key for four seconds.
You can also set off the panic alarm in your car with the key fob. This will emit an alarm that is loud and attention-grabbing which can deter thieves and allow you to return home safe after a long night out. This feature comes in handy if you are living in a dangerous neighborhood or want to protect your family while they're away.
Opening the Tailgate
Volvo has packed its key fobs with a number of useful features. These are perfect when you're working on shopping or helping your kids pack up their sports gear after practice.

Switching off the Alarm

Choose a clean, flat surface and lay out your key fob, battery and extra keys. Place the key fob with the Volvo logo facing upwards and then find a small black button to the left-hand side of the fob and slide it down and to the right. The cover should loosen and fall off and reveal the mechanical key blade underneath it.
You can unlock all doors as well as the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the key fob twice. The lock button also shuts the windows and the sunroof (if equipped) by pressing it for 2 seconds. Connect the battery and the alarm will stop. If it doesn't, the owner's instructions should include a reset method.
